Tips & advice to help your move run smoothly

Get packing

It takes planning and consideration to ensure your move is as painless and stress-free as possible. Why not start with a clear out before you start packing? Consider selling, donating or even throwing away items you do not want or need. Selling your unwanted items is a good way to raise funds to help pay towards your Fresh Start.

Once that's done, and you have a home full of items you want to take with you, make sure you get plenty of good quality packing materials. Having lots of boxes of different shapes and sizes will make the loading of the van(s) more difficult and time consuming.

Be colourful

Another good tip is to colour code the boxes, so that you know which boxes are from which rooms, and clearly indicate their contents. You can ask your estate agent for a floor plan of the property, and consider giving the removal team a colour-coordinated map of your new home, so they know where to put each box as they unload the vehicle(s). Doing this will make your unpacking so much easier, because all the items will be in the correct rooms. You will be able to unpack in a sensible order, and not just open boxes that don't have a home yet.

On the day, try to make sure you have a parking space reserved as close to the property as possible.

Thirsty work

Last but not least, we advise you to reserve one last box for what we call 'the removals men best friend', the kettle. This will be the last box to be filled, and the first one to be unpacked. Moving home is a thirsty business, and our crew will always appreciate the offer of a lovely cup of tea or coffee every now and then, to keep them well hydrated.

We hope these little tips will help you organise your move, but if you still have any doubts or questions we will be more than happy to help.
